History and Origins of the Cupping Therapy

Traditionally, the ‘Cupping Therapy’ originated in Egypy and China thousands of years ago. The Arabic name for Cupping Therapy is Al-Hijama. The practice of Al-Hijama has been part of Middle-Eastern cultural practice for thousands of years with citations dating back to the time of Hippocrates (400 BC).

Cupping is gaining publicity in the Western World and United States. Many medical schools in the U.S.A have begun teaching cupping as part of Complementary Medicine (CM). Bloodletting is also being practiced at Harvard Medical School and Johns Hopkins Medical Center, two of the most prestigious medical centers in the world.
